진화하고 있는 전쟁 양상 혹은 새로운 전쟁 이론에 대한 고찰은 다가올 미래의 전쟁에 효율적으로 대비한다는 차원에서 큰 의미를 가진다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이라크전쟁에서의 실패 이후 논의되기 시작한 제5세대 전쟁 이론을 학술적인 차원에서 종합적으로 검토하고 제5세대 전쟁에 대한 개념화를 시도하였으며 이를 통해 한국의 안보 상황에서 고려해야 할 요소들이 있는지를 중점적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과 현재 제5세대 전쟁에 대한 논의는 학술적 담론에 머물러 있는 수준임을 확인할 수 있었으며, 한국의 안보 상황에서 당면 위협으로 상정하기에도 다소 무리가 따르는 개념으로 판단된다. 그러나 제4세대 전쟁의 진화된 양상 혹은 새로운 제5세대 전쟁의 양상으로 제시된 개념 중에는 우리 군과 국가가 미래를 대비하는 차원에서 고려해 볼 수 있는 요소들도 상당히 많이 있으며 특히, 한국이 가지고 있는 군사적 특징 (적, 지형, 기상 등)에 맞는 전쟁 이론으로의 |

It is definitively true that the paradigm of warfare has been changed by current technologies, political, societal and economic situations. And the study of evolving aspects of war or new war theory is of great significance in terms of effectively preparing for new paradigm of warfare. This study examines synthetically the Fifth Generation Warfare (5GW) theory, which has been discussed relatively recently, and attempts to conceptualize the theory. By doing so, we will explore whether there are factors to consider under the security situation in the Republic of Korea. As a result, we can confirm that the discussions about the 5GW are conducted on the level of the academic discourse, and that it is premature to affirm that the threats in the 5GW as principal military threats to the ROK. |
