This paper aims to show the directions to increase patriotism in the Moral Education at the ROK Armed Forces. It is true that a soldier loves her country's reason for being (raison d'ȇtre).First of all, this paper has focused on patriotism and the national anthem. In the ancient era, the public interest in political formulations emerged as a sign of patriotism. Patriotism in the Middle Ages was transformed into a love for patriarchal values. And in the Renaissance era, it was changed to a unique and individual thing, and became a pure concern of human beings. Then, the concept of patriotism could be summarized as a love for a citizen, a subject with a feeling of loyalty or love for the state (and so the existence of the 'state').
